Pronto volvera.

About two months ago i went to Cancun, Mexico with my mom and we met up with my Aunt, her two girls (ages 1 and 5) and my Grandma. At first i was kinda iffy about going, not to sound ungrateful or anything cause HELLO!? ITS MEXICO! but my mother and I dont exactly get along and we were gunna be there for two weeks. I soon realized she was a lot more laid back then back at home. She didnt mind me drinking, her and my aunt switched my under-aged wristband (im almost 17) to an 18 or older wristband so i could drink and get into the clubs there and she didnt mind me smoking either!
This was my second time going to Cancun, and it is absolutely AMAZING- I miss it so much… I met some amazing people, and i even got to know the hotel entertainers really well; especially this one guy but I wont get into details ;), unfortunately even though we gave each other our facebooks and what not we haven’t kept in contact which sucks cause he was such a cool and awesome guy who always made me laugh- not to mention really sweet but probably a player player if you know what I mean.
When we left, I felt like i was leaving my home- which was weird because the first time i went to Cancun, i got really homesick and couldn’t wait to come home; but that was two years ago. When i graduate i plan on furthering my studies in Latin American and Spanish, then if it all turns out; i plan on moving to Cancun for a while and doing tourism. Mexico; their culture, their language, their way of everything just absolutely fascinates me which is why I love it so much. This is honestly my dream, and you know whats weird? My mother and I both think we should of been born Mexican- instead of Portuguese. :)

Mexican-styled outfits

One thing i absolutely love about mexico, is there amazing style that people tend to bring back. It almost looks hippy like but it has definitely come back this summer. Anything from beautiful bracelets to cool patterned shorts, to the gladiator sandals- you will always be looking good this summer. UPDATE.

Pheew, I am absolutely exhausted; this has been a hectic last month or so. First of all i'd like to bring up my summer has finally started... well technically it starts after my exams which is next week; but I mean, its my last day of having to attempt to attend class. That actually sounds really bad, but come-on people skip once in a while; I don't mean to make that sound ungrateful for having an education and all, but its something you sorta do as a teenager I find. On to the next quick point, after quitting my job at this grocery store I worked at for almost a year then quit, I have now realized how shitty it is to be without money. I need a job. Like this summer. Hopefully. Wish me luck! OMG I have this plan imma share, something I can hopefully stick to.
1. a) Get a job this summer so i can start saving up for my trip to Mexico in New Years and in May.
b) Work for my uncle and get payed every time i work which wont be that often seeing as i wont be working every day.
2. Save up, put some money aside for a new Blackberry. Hopefully i'll be able to get a new phone soon.
3. Put some money aside for College or University which i will be taking some courses in Latin American and Spanish.
4. Save money for the Mayan Culture Program - (http://www.goabroad.com/providers/global-vision-international/programs/explore-mayan-central-america-53281) and/or (http://www.gapadventures.com/trips/mayan-adventure/CAM/2011/) or (http://www.gapadventures.com/trips/mexico-ancient-civilizations/MMC/2011/)
This would be such an accomplishment, but Note: this all i want to be taken place over the next lets say year and a half or two. Wish me Luck!

UPDATE: I will be taking a year off after i graduate next year so i can save up for School and when i hopefully move to mexico to work tourism.

XTAB: Mayan Suicide Goddess.

Ixtab, or ‘Rope Woman’, was the Yucatec Mayan goddess of suicide.
In mayan tradition, suicide was considered a very honorable way to die, in a similar level than human sacrifices, warriors dead in battle, women dead by giving birth, or priests. Ixtab is represented as a corpse partially rotten, with her eyes closed, hanging from the tree that separates the sky from the earth. Her role as a goddess was to protect the suicidal ones, guiding them to a special paradise immediately.

The Quetzalcoatl, Tezcatlipoca, Huitzilopochtli and Mictlantecuhtli.

So, I dont know if any of you guys know something about mexican prehispanic cultures, aztec, mayan, toltec, etc..

Well, the thing is that all over latin america there is a coincidence of 100% of a god in particular in all cultures, mostly known by the name of Quetzalcoatl (aztec), or the winged serpent, he was something like the messiah, he was one of the most important deities in all the region, he was the god of sunlight, razor wind, and prosperity, who came flying by the north and gave illumination to these people, also he promised a return and “rise” of the cultures..

Quetzalcoatl also had his dark side..

Tezcatlipoca, wich is the evil inside quetzalcoatl, the “Darkned mirror”, the destroyer, the wise, the omnipresent, the one who knew all the hidden secrets inside and outside everything. Sometimes considered his twin, being such a contradiction. He was also called “Moyocoya” wich means "almighty".

Also, the most important god within all this civilizations was HUITZILOPOCHTLI.

God of war and blood thirsted, in sacrifice rituals honoring him the victim was cut with a sharp obsidian knife (alive) and removed the heart still pumping blood. The prisoner was completely covered in gray, which was the color of sacrifice, and perhaps, he was drugged, because the screams were considered rude in the case of sacrifice to Huitzilopochtli.

Then there is my Personal Favorite, MICTLANTECUHTLI..

God of the dead and the underworld.
The worship of Mictlantecuhtli sometimes involved ritual cannibalism, with human flesh being consumed in and around the temple.

La Batidora!

I would absolutely LOVE to meet Don Omar. His music is so beautiful, every time i hear his songs i cant not help but dance, my hips automatically sway with the music and my feet dance with the beat. It reminds me of the Mexican Fiestas I went to on my last visit to Cancun, Tulum. The dancing, music, drinks, food it was ALL amazing. Next time someone goes to Mexico and hits up a Fiesta for the first time, you will know what i mean when i say I honestly felt so at home. Being Portuguese, i usually go to a lot of Fests they hold at the Portuguese Hall i attend; and they are almost just as colorful as a Fiesta in Mexico.  I remember going to this one festival that had about almost 700 people there. You had to hold each others hands just to make sure you didn't split up and get lost. When you visit a different Country you can't not experience their Culture and Traditions, its a must to visit a Fiesta.

Quiero ser capaz de,

My teacher brought up something today in class that made me think. So it goes like this, he was telling us some dramatic story about how last night a really good friend of his had been going through some 'bumps' in the 'relationship' department over facebook; during this time he had come across a status update with a link attached of a young boy playing 'Black Bird' on the guitar. Apparently after telling us the drama filled story, he had randomly decided to bring up this young artist's youtube video. The friend who had posted the link had commented on it and said "...Imagine how much more talented he will be when he reaches teen years". My teacher then asked us each this one question, "What is something you wish you could be an expert at?". What he meant by this is: what is something you wish you could learn or be able to do and master, that might either effect people in some way (ex. Musicians, Psychologists etc.) or even just to be able to say you can. I sat there trying to think, cause i usually don't take the time to actually sit and think of an answer when he goes around each day asking the 'Question of the day'; but i actually sat there and tried to come up with something. It finally came to me, my answer to his question was "I want to be able to show people the real world, the world that not many people know about.". My teacher later then said, 'If any of you do end up doing something that you think you have become an 'expert' at or even have somehow effected other people, then please do send me an e-mail.' - and i swear I'm going to end up making a list of these but, i have taken this as a challenge. I'm one of thous people who place a goal, but end up giving up someway through and its something that i can seriously say bugs the shit out of me. So here's a promise and a goal I am setting, and keeping --
"I want to be able to travel and learn, while showing people the world that not many people care or know about"

Un sueno y una promesa.

I just recently decided that I'm going to start taking Spanish next year, even though its only going to be one semester (seeing as its my last year of high school.). I've already been on this great website which is like an online "course" if you will, that teaches you to Speak, pronounce, read and write Latin American [E-language]. [Luckily for me I'm Portuguese, and Spanish n' Portuguese are quite similar if you tweak up the accent and words a little.]. After grad I hope to go to college and take Spanish, Tourism and any Cultural courses then make my way down to Cancun and maybe work as a Tour Guide (Mayan Ruins etc.) or even work as one of thous airline representatives that work at the resorts and help you from getting settled, to booking tours, to changing your flight times. This big idea of me going down there after College was first brought up by my Aunt when we stayed at the Bahia Principe Tulum Resort in Cancun; we were talking about travelling and how i didn't really have an Idea as to what i want to do when i get out of school. Seeing as i just so happen to love travelling, culture and Mexico; she told me about how I should start taking tourism and Spanish for my last year in high school and in College, then maybe go down to Mexico for a bit. Of course my mom being my mom wasn't quite 100%  with the whole idea [seeing as she only cares about the fact that I get a high paying job] but you know what, i rather enjoy and have fun with my job then give two shits about the money. Money is money, it comes and it goes. I think she is also afraid of me failing, but you wont ever know until you try no matter how scary it seems. If you fail, hey that's life and that just so happens to be how you learn; if you fail then you have two choices; Give up, or try again. To tell you the truth i tend to give up quite a lot, and it isn't working out for me too well, so you know what? I'm going to make a promise. I promise that if I fail, I will not give up and try again. Lets see how long i can go with keeping this promise.

Walled City of Tulum.

I want to go back. Smell the sweet mildew, touch the warm white sand that tickles between your toes when you walk; watch the palm trees sway back and fourth while the humid wind blows past your face. I wont ever forget walking the cobblestone street filled with tourists shopping on Fifth Avenue; being able to see old churches and buildings that look like they have probably been standing there for centuries. I met a lot of awesome people and friends, learned and viewed some history and language but most importantly, did some crazy things that stays in Mexico. They call this place Cancun; its meaning? Snake-pit. [Intriguing name, I know.] About an hour away, placed along the main highway was Tulum; and about 20 mins away from there was everything you could possibly imagine. Well not literally but there were some pretty cool places and things to see there, and that is where i want to go back in about a year and a half.

"Me gustarĂa poder estar de vuelta, con los pies en la arena, y mis brazos alrededor de usted una vez mas."
